Despite having been absent from this blog for the last few days does not mean that I have not been very busy! A coalition of concerned Floridians, myself included, is very engaged in creating a list of “secure the vote” issues that must be addressed in the upcoming legislative session.
Our goal is to resolve what was not done in SB7050 and in prior years. As we all know, Florida is NOT the Golden Standard for Elections despite what the establishment would like to have everyone believe. Personally speaking, we have affidavits of those who canvassed the state and can testify to the dead, the ghosts, and the phantoms either voting or on the voter rolls in 2020.
This very fine-tuning, loophole closing, must happen list is contained in a document we are calling the “One Pager” which you can find on Defend Florida's website. If you are from Florida, we need everyone to get involved by meeting with your local officials (Florida State Representatives and Senators) in the next few weeks while they are in your district. This is key because they need to hear from We the People. Only if we express our requirements can we hold them accountable later.
For this initiative to be successful, here are the steps:
Prior to the meeting:
1. Make an appointment with the legislators (do not give them this one page document).
2. Watch training videos on the website.
3. Complete the following form to be in the loop with all the other citizens that are part of this effort: https://form.jotform.com/231715464951156
4. Ask one or two other people to join you in the meeting. Assign someone to take notes.
5. Print the One Pager by clicking here: DefendFlorida.org
At the Meeting:
1. Thank the official or staff member for meeting with you.
2. Ask the official what they think about Florida’s election security and what areas they are concerned. See if they have any questions or any problems with the elections. If they have problems, ask what they are going to do about it, what solutions or ideas they may have. (Don’t hold your breath, they may have none).
3. Pick one to three items on the One Pager and speak about these, why you care, what is your experience, etc. This is when you hand them a copy (Any time prior to this moment and their attention will focus on the document, not what you want to talk about).
4. Ask official for feedback on the items you shared with them.
5. Ask them if they will sponsor or support these items in the next legislative session and see if there's anything that they need. If they have questions, we have subject matter experts.
6. Set up follow up meeting. Offer to give them additional information. Ask if they have any suggestions to help promote the bill.
7. After the meeting, submit feedback here: https://form.jotform.com/231755654621155
Remember, you do not have to be an expert. This meeting is to create a relationship so they are aware that citizens are concerned. Be prepared, polite, professional and expect results. Take note of their demeanor, openness, and receptivity (or not). We have a call every Tuesday at 7pm to follow-up, share experiences, and give advice. An election security support group if you will. By joining this initiative you will be become part of a regional team.
If you are from out of state, you can also log onto Defend Florida’s website where we have this and much more helpful information, useful regardless of your location. I am very encouraged by the fact that our coalition has members from all sorts of groups, people coming together for the sake of our state. If we all operated this way, we might just save this country.
Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.
