Politically speaking, there is a widespread McCarthy-esque organized resistance from legislators to their constituents. Rather than merely complaining and venting on social media, one little known county is breaking new ground: they have organized, performed a factual audit on their leader and are mounting political pressure from within their entire county. Will they succeed? See Florida history in the making on October 28 @ 11:45 AM Live!
(Fast Forward to Minute 21 for Start)
‘Toute nation a le gouvernement qu'elle mérite,' a quote attributed to French diplomat and philosopher Joseph de Maistre, translates to 'Every country deserves their leadership.' If government reflects our character, values, and choices, this concept suggests that if dissatisfied, we bear some responsibility for it, either by our actions or acquiescence.
It is no secret we are disappointed with our elected officials. The country is grappling with political frustrations, vented on phone calls to the Capitol regarding the Speaker nomination battle. However, what is happening in Volusia, Florida is radically different. Regular folks have united to examine and hold their House Representative accountable. In fact, they have organized an event to present their findings in a public forum. Notably it is the grassroots activist in this district who have done the heavy lifting - diligently doing the research, 📊🔍 examining voting records, and taking matters into their own hands.
Given Ron DeSantis as Governor and an overwhelming red legislature, Florida should be ironclad in terms of enshrining individual liberties for its citizens. Instead, the 2023 legislative session was underwhelming at best, with losses regarding election security, limited government, and second amendment protections, among others.
Moreover, as Floridians experience a hike in homeowners insurance premiums by 20% to 40%, tightening of eligibility criteria, or companies simply fleeing the state, the cost of insuring their homes is not only getting out of hand but also becoming an impossible situation. Florida’s political leadership voting record has transitioned from philosophical possibilities to practical matters, hitting citizens where it hurts: in their pockets. In other words, the problems have become personal.
The Citizen Coalition of Volusia County, home to Daytona and Ormond Beach, has conducted an audit of their leader and armed themselves with compelling information. Their goal? To educate fellow voters about Representative Tom Leek’s job performance, terminate his reign of squeezing constituents, and ushering in a new era of accountability. Elected officials that do not deserve public trust will be exposed by their own voters.
The people who elected Leek deserve to know why SB 76, HB 837, and other laws benefit the insurance industry while they must bear the brunt of a problem that has not been of their making. In addition, the coalition will present that Representative Leek voted for legislation clouding Florida’s Sunshine Laws, enabling power companies to charge higher prices, and shielding healthcare providers who refused to administer Ivermectin and other promising treatments from lawsuits. In short, the Citizen Coalition aims to instruct fellow voters about Tom Leek’s legislative record by examining the laws passed under his tenure.
Representative Leek has been invited to attend this meeting so he may explain his voting record and why his votes correlate with the donations received by his political action committee named “Living Life with Purpose.” As an insurance industry insider and attorney, Leek was ideally suited to draft and support fair and equitable laws for his constituents. An analysis of such laws indicates that the insurance companies and carriers have benefited at the expense of the policyholders.
Tom Leek is serving his last term as Florida Representative for District 28 in Volusia County. He has announced his candidacy for Senate District 7, which expands to St. Johns, Putnam, and Flagler County. Citizens from those new areas have been invited to attend the event so they may become more informed and involved voters.
Anyone working in corporate America is familiar with yearly performance appraisals to evaluate job results such as product quality (legislation and bills), customer retention (constituent satisfaction), profitability (economic impact), etc. How are politicians accountable for their actions? Isn’t it time elected public servants are held to the same standard? Citizen engagement in governance is key to safeguarding our individual freedoms and liberties. This initiative is the first of its kind in the state of Florida and offers an approach that can be emulated by other citizens in their own counties.
Why is this not happening elsewhere? 🤔 Because few have dared to boldly leap from complaints to competently organizing to creating consequences for the establishment. The Citizen Coalition of Volusia County is breaking the mold and paving the way for their brighter political future. America, shouldn’t we all be doing the same?

Father in Heaven,
We stand before you with gratitude for the good citizens of Florida who are stepping up to address matters of governance. Bless their efforts with immeasurable success. May no weapons formed against them succeed, and may they be covered by a mantle of protection. May their plans prosper as they shine a light on their state affairs.
Holy Spirit, open the minds of the people who will attend this event. Bring those who have a large circle of influence so they may become participants in the process. Grant them wisdom and discernment to identify agendas motivated by greed and deceit.
Host of Heaven, we invite you to watch over us and battle for us in the spiritual realm. Lord, release your heavenly army upon our nation.
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
