Excellent message to our Governor to illustrate the dissatisfaction that many are feeling regarding the recent election integrity legislation. But corruption is, and always has been, an issue that no law can prevent since it comes from a corrupt heart and mind. Laws are only effective to the extent that the law-abiding will voluntarily comply, but they do little or nothing to stop those who have no respect for the law in the first place, except for perhaps providing for the punishment of those who get caught. And how many corrupt election officials or perpetrators of election fraud have been punished in recent memory? Answer: Sadly, not enough to make much of a difference. If we do not police ourselves as self-governing individuals, and encourage and help our neighbors to do the same, there is no law that is guaranteed to fix what is broken, and not many people would want to live in the totalitarian police state that would be necessary to enforce such laws anyways.
