Once upon a time, immigrants believed there was a rule of law in the United States. Within that structure, personal success could be attained through merit and effort. Juxtaposed, growing up in Latin America or other third world countries, there is an inherent government mistrust knowing that corruption runs rampant.

Having firsthand experienced how the actions of a few destroyed the country of my childhood, it pains me to see the same happening in the United States. Most Americans are unwilling to believe the election was stolen, they refuse to acknowledge this government is a plutocracy, and do not realize we are on route to become Venezuela on steroids.

Steve Friend is a sobering confirmation we have descended to banana republic status. Here is his story:

Special Agent Friend graduated from Notre Dame as an accounting major but after one too many tax seasons, he pivoted to pursue a career in law enforcement. In 2014, he underwent a rigorous vetting and training process before being assigned to the FBI Sioux City, Iowa office where he worked for approximately seven years. His role was to investigate violent crimes and major offenses on Native American reservations, a highly specialized area that only about 158 FBI agents are tasked with due to the need to consider complex legal matters and constitutional rights of the involved parties. As such, these agents must possess first rate competencies.

During his tenure in Sioux City, Steve made over 150 arrests, a notable accomplishment that exceeds the usual metrics. He personally oversaw his cases from start to finish and demonstrated a high level of proficiency in his work, as evidenced by his exemplary performance reviews. It's worth noting that despite being trained and certified, Steve never relied on a SWAT team approach to conduct an arrest, even though his subjects were likely to be dangerous or violent.

Steve eventually transferred to the Jacksonville, Florida office, where he focused on investigating violent crimes against children, including child and human trafficking. In 2021, he was selected to be part of a large task force mobilized across the country to investigate the January 6th “insurrection”.

As Steve explains, protocol establishes the case belongs to the office where the offense was committed which in the case of J6, should have been Washington, DC. However, the cases were dispersed around the country, according to the residence of the citizens being investigated. Nonetheless, the orders continued to flow from Washington, departing from traditional agency procedures. In addition to his concerns regarding civil rights violations, Steve was also troubled by the urging to use SWAT tactics when arresting citizens charged with what essentially amounted to misdemeanors. He pointed out that previous incidents such as Ruby Ridge or Waco have demonstrated the potential dangers of standoffs. Given that Steve had never encountered the need to use SWAT force to arrest violent criminals, he questioned the necessity of using such tactics on ordinary people who were part of a peaceful protest.

When Steve raised his concerns regarding cruel or abusive tactics, his superiors indicated he had a choice where to place his loyalty: the agency or the Constitution. He was placed on suspension and his last day as an agent was a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, Steve voluntarily submitted his testimony to the  Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government headed by Rep. Jim Jordan and has become the conduit for other current agents to secretly report the malfeasance and corruption within the agency.

How much longer the FBI can withstand a series of black eyes before Congress develops the political will to seriously restructure or even abolish the agency? From high-profile and unresolved cases like the Las Vegas shooting, Orlando Pulse nightclub, and Larry Nasser to the agency's involvement in controversial issues such as Russia collusion, Twitter manipulation, and Hunter Biden's laptop scandal, the FBI appears to be a dysfunctional organization, driven by political ambition and weaponized to further a nefarious political agenda.

Moreover, by dispersing the J6 cases nationwide, it gives the impression of many terrorist cells rather than a single incident at the Capitol. Many of those arrested are still awaiting charges, and some have been placed in solitary confinement. Meanwhile, the agency is planning hundreds more arrests in connection with J6, a tactic to further quash the American people's spirit. This is how banana republics ensure the tyranny of the minority.

Despite this sobering interview, it is a unique privilege to come across people with the integrity and courage like Steve Friend. Someone who was willing to take a stand and uphold his principles. We owe him and many other brave Americans a debt of gratitude. Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you with grateful hearts for the visible manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the bravery and integrity of men like Steve Friend. We ask for continued blessings upon him and his family, including courage, health, and peace, as they navigate these difficult times. Please surround him, his loved ones, his attorneys, and all those involved in this whistleblowing experience with your hedge of protection.

May Steve's example inspire others who see cracks in our government agencies. May your light shine brightly in the darkness, exposing all that is corrupt and wrong. Please grant Steve the insight, wisdom, and inspired communication he needs to convey the necessary remedies to those who can bring about reformative measures.

Lord, we ask for justice where it has been lacking. We pray for those who have been wrongly imprisoned for their actions on January 6th. May the true intentions of this plot be exposed, bringing the true insurrectionists to light.

We ask for these things in the name of our holy Savior, Jesus Christ.

Los que hemos crecido en America Latina o en países del tercer mundo tenemos una  desconfianza inherente hacia el gobierno ya que hemos sido testigos de la corrupción que agobia a nuestros países. Habiendo visto con mis propios ojos como las acciones de unos pocos destruyeron el país de mi infancia, me duele ver que lo mismo está sucediendo en los Estados Unidos.

Steve Friend ha confirmado en voz propia que los Estados Unidos se ha convertido en una república bananera. Steve es un graduado de la Universidad de Notre Dame como contador pero decidió cambiar de carrera y entrar en la academia de policía. Esta es su historia.

En 2014, Steve pasó por un riguroso proceso de selección y capacitación antes de ser asignado a la oficina del FBI en Sioux City, Iowa, donde trabajó durante aproximadamente siete años. Su función era investigar delitos violentos y ofensas graves en las tierras de los indios americanos, un área altamente especializada que solo unos 158 agentes del FBI están encargados debido a los complejos asuntos legales y derechos constitucionales implicados. Mientras tanto, la agencia está planeando cientos de arrestos más en conexión con J6, con la intención de apagar aún más el espíritu del pueblo estadounidense. Es así como los dictadores consolidan su poder: la tiranía de la minoría.

A pesar de la sobriedad de esta entrevista, es un privilegio singular conocer a una persona con la integridad y el coraje de Steve Friend. Un hombre dispuesto a defender sus principios. Le debemos a él y a muchos otros valientes estadounidenses una deuda de gratitud. Steve es actualmente parte del Center for Renewing America y está prestando su experiencia y conocimientos para proporcionar una visión de los problemas que aquejan a la agencia.
